PERSONALITY
"'I admire Enjolras,' said Bossuet. 'His impassive boldness astonishes me. He lives alone, which makes him perhaps a little sad. Enjolras suffers for his greatness[.]'" (Jean Valjean, Book 1 Chapter XIV)"Advice from Enjolras was an order." (Jean Valjean, Book 1, Chapter II)
Most people would describe Enjolras as a passionate believer, natural leader, and powerful public speaker. Those who know him just a bit better would describe him as a staunch advocate but slightly cold individual. His actual friends would describe him as compassionate, loyal, and devastating.
The predominant trait everyone agrees on, of course, is the fact that Enjolras puts everything else to the side in favour of his beliefs. There's nothing--and no one--that actually beats out the work he wants to do. Some people call it focus. Some people call it devotion.
Some people call it stubborn.
APPEARANCE
"His flaring nostrils, his downcast eyes, gave to his implacable Greek profiles that expression of wrath and chastity which from the point of view of the ancient world belonged to justice." (Saint-Denis, Book 12, Chapter VIII)"His eyes, filled with interior sight, gave off a kind of stifled fire. Suddenly he raised his head, his fair hair fell back like that of the angel on his somber chariot of stars, it was the mane of a startled lion with a flaming halo." (Jean Valjean, Book 1, Chapter V)
Most people notice Enjolras for his mess of dirty blond hair and impeccable facial structure. He has the slightly incongruous body of a former-athlete-turned-serious-student: broad shoulders, wiry but no longer properly toned muscle, and energy coiled beneat the surface.
Beyond natural good looks, only very basic attention is paid to his own appearance. By and large, Enjolras dresses himself like a young professional--if more cheaply than his father would necessarily like to see. When it gets chilly, he tends to wear an aggressively red jacket, recognizable from something of a distance.

ABOUT
"'We are advancing to the union of peoples; we are advancing to the unity of man. No more fictions; no more parasites. The real governed by the true, that is the goal.'" (Jean Valjean, Book 1, Chapter V)Enjolras was born into the lap of luxury. He was a beautiful child, sharp as a whip and constantly throwing himself against every piece of the world. He grew like a weed under his mother's soft doting and father's firm hand.
And then he started leaving the house.
The disparity between what he had and what the rest of the world seemed to have been apportioned was appalling from some of the earliest of his childhood memories. The world beyond the affluent safety of his own neighborhood was so large, so full, and so fraught. Each new scrap of knowledge pushed him toward what would ultimately become an all-encompassing quest for equality.
The shift came when he left home properly to study in Paris. Living alone gave Enjolras a chance to actually focus his energy. There was no more fighting with his father, no more worrying after his mother, no more trying to find a way to make meaning in his life. There was actual work to do in Paris. Outside his studies, there were opportunities to actually help.
More than that, there were other people who cared. There were a scattering of other students who didn't immediately tune out while he went off on a tirade. There were a number of other people who thought the world did need changing. With Les Amis de l'ABC, he had finally found his place to fit.
When he looks back now, Enjolras primarily remembers a father who drank too much and a mother who never took a stand for anything important. When he looks forward now, he primarily sees a future so bright he has to wear shades.
